If I do not live my truth, I only write it, reduce humanity to poetry, and poetry to a common sense of morality. If my own life isn’t perceived as a moral sacrifice, then maybe this is only poetry - not real life...
And what if Georges Bataille and Sarah Kane sat down to play chess and decided to rewrite the history of art, or of humanity? What would that be like? The court pronounced a death sentence for the sake of love. The museum pronounced a sentence of eternity for the sake of art. And a funeral — half funeral, half cooking class — pronounced a sentence of returning to life, for the sake of dying. In this second part of How to Kill, continues my exploration of the body, training and discipline as means to transcend performativity. — Xana Novais

Xana Novais trained in theatre at balleteatro and in dance at FAIIC — Advanced Training in Choreographic Interpretation and Creation at Companhia Instável. Her career highlights include performances in works by Pedro Zegre Penim, Hugo Calhim Cristóvão & Joana von Mayer Trindade, João Pedro Vale & Nuno Alexandre Ferreira, and Carlota Canto Lagido. Since 2019, she has been a recurring collaborator with Florentina Holzinger, while also developing her own work as a creator. Following the premiere of Como Matar Mulheres Nuas in 2022 and Electra vai ao Techno in 2023, Xana returns to the How to Kill universe in 2026 with the second part.
