Sinopse
The story of Catarina Eufémia has no princesses or castles, no journeys to distant kingdoms or creatures never imagined before. It is a story of peasants working the land from sunup to sundown, sowing, reaping and harvesting the wheat that will later be taken from their hands. It's a story of injustice, but also of resistance. Catarina is the heroine of this story because she lived a hard life, but she never lost her joy and her will to fight for a better world. She was born and died in the Alentejo, stood up to the powerful and never stopped singing. In the new work in the Antiprincesas cycle, we're going to sing with her. — Cláudia Gaiolas

Cláudia Gaiolas is a creator and performer who graduated from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema in Lisbon. She co-founded Teatro Praga and has worked as a performer with various collectives and artists: Teatro da Garagem, mala voadora, Mundo Perfeito, Paula Diogo, Tónan Quito, Giacomo Scalisi, André Murraças, Joaquim Horta, Madalena Victorino, Jean-Pierre Larroche, Rui Horta, Clara Andermatt, Martim Pedroso, Àgnes Limbos, Dinarte Branco, Guilherme Garrido, Rui Catalão, Alfredo Martins, Keli Freitas, Raquel André and Alex Cassal. In 2018, she began the Antiprincesas cycle of eight shows, which are still on tour. In 2024, Cláudia premiered Coro dos Amantes, by Tiago Rodrigues, which she directs and performs with Tónan Quito.
